About Vivek Chakraverty:
As a child i wanted to be a doctor like my father, later a fighter pilot but ended up being a poet. And if i deserve to be called a worthy poet i would consider it to be my greatest acclaim, a recognition unmatched by any other. I had a disturbed childhood, a troubled adolescence and now a ruined youth. My life is arid like the desert, the loneliness is chilly like frost. But throughout much of this matured life i had one companion-Verse. In the insanity that prevailed in my immediate environment rhyme, words and ideas were the only refuge, the last bit of sanity in an otherwise insane world. I have been diagnosed as a schizophrenic and have been under treatment for the last fifteen years. But ironically i can prove from my experience that it is the world around me that needs some treatment.
What inspires you to write?
Emotions. I am an emotional and impulsive person by nature and temperament and sometimes the emotions get so overwhelming that i just have to load off my burden by expressing myself.
Tell us about your writing process.
There are mainly three methods behind my writing.
The first and the one that most often occurs with me is the unburdening of emotions that i am oft overwhelmed with.
The second is that a few lines come to my mind and i add up the rest to form a coherent whole.
And the last is to go along with my thoughts on particular predetermined theme.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t give up. Pay your the homage,respect,dedication and love that your passion deserves and you will surely be rewarded. But you might have to be patient for that reward to come. Prepare yourself for the long haul.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Well my financial constraints, my needs of the moment and the fact that the world is going digital determines my preference for ebooks and now towards experimental multimedia ebooks.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
According to me, sooner or later its definitely digital.
