About Venus Morales:
Venus Morales lives in the Boston, MA with her family. She is a mother to three awesome boys. When you don’t see her writing, you’ll find her nose stuck in a book. She love’s to laugh, and joke around with her friends and family. Her quirky sense of humor transcends into her writing; for her characters are a part of her everyday life, they’re piece’s of her soul & they each have a story to tell. Venus is the puppeteer of the fantasy world she has created. Writing Urban Fantasy, is her passion. She believes writers shouldn’t write because it’s a regular 9-5. A writer is born to be who their meant to be. A writer is an artist. Writers are meant to be unique, weird, cooky & untraditional. If all writers were meant to be the same, than everyone would be reading, & writing the same style & genres; a world with no color, everything only black & white; It would be a world without air. #DiversityMatters
What inspires you to write?
The slightest things I see, (usually when I see my boys playing ninja or some kind of crazy combat game) makes me slip into a day dream and then before I know it, I’m thinking about a scene i need to write down immediately. Even though I don’t know where it’ll go right then I just know I’ll use it at some point. That’s why I carry a lil note book with me at all times.
Tell us about your writing process.
It’s complicated. Lol I hide away in my little corner with my headphones and usually begin oldschool (pen & paper) I map out my story and get my story going. When I’m ready to revise and transfer it over to my laptop, as I’m typing what I wrote, not only am I revising, it’s evolving and growing; taking on its own form and the characters truly come to life.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Yes, yes, yes!!! They are my life. Without them I wouldn’t have a story to tell. Lol.
What advice would you give other writers?
Write and do what feels right inside of you. It’s your story to tell. When your finished you decide which direction you want to go, because your the one who poored all your hard work into your MS.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I chose to self-publish only because I wanted full control of my own work, vs once you hand over hour precious hard work over to someone you barely have say on what happens on anything.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think it’s going to continue to grow. Though books are very popular, many people are still purists and will stay faithful to the hardcover & paperbacks.
What genres do you write?: Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Romance
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
