Chasing Phantoms by Inna Tamir
“Chasing Phantoms is an emotionally rich, genre-blending tale of love that defies logic, life, and even lifetimes. With luminous prose and unforgettable characters, it’s a story for romantics, mystics, and anyone who believes that some connections are written in the stars. I absolutely loved this story and I think it’s a must-read for fans of paranormal romance.”
—Miche Arendse, Readers’ Favorite
Who among us hasn’t had an “Adrian” in their life? That black- / green- / blue-eyed guy you just couldn’t get out of your head? Because that’s how unrequited love works…
They usually stay in our past. A distant dream. An unfulfilled fantasy.
But what happens when they don’t?
Vera wasn’t looking for a flatmate, but when she saw this flatmate, her plans changed.
She was sure it was fate. What else could’ve led her to his door at that late hour?
Now, she thought, it was just a matter of time—until she finally won his heart.
Little did she know…
Obstacles had never stopped Vera before.
Working with extraterrestrials. Arguing with spirits. Visiting past lives.
Her world was too full of miracles to believe anything was impossible.
But what happens when the obstacles are gone?
When everything comes down to one choice—
Her chance to be happy… or his?
A time- and space-crossing love story that dances on the thin line between what is possible—and what most people believe isn’t.
Excerpt from the Book
When she opened the door, she saw a very tall and very, very
handsome young man. His black hair was tied back in a long ponytail,
his eyes were black as the night itself, and his mischievous smile was
just charming. He was wearing jeans, a denim jacket, and a tight black
shirt under the jacket. For some reason, Vera thought that there was
something gypsy-like about him.
Before he opened his mouth, the guy examined Vera with his
eyes, from her head to the tips of her toes. “You’re prettier than I
imagined.”
“I’m also more dressed than you’re imagining me right now.”
The guy laughed. “You’re also bolder than I thought! I’m sorry, I
know I’ve been rude. Let’s start over! I’m Christian, Adrian’s brother.
You can call me Chris.”
“Nice to meet you! Vera, Adrian’s new flatmate. So, how exactly
did you imagine me?”
“Like I said, less pretty. It’s Adrian’s fault; he can’t describe a
woman properly. Do you want to know how I would describe you?”
Adrian described her to his brother… She wondered what he’d
said. Vera raised an eyebrow. “Do I look like someone who’s after
cheap compliments?”
Christian laughed. “Not really.”
“Well, listen,” said Vera, “Adrian isn’t home. You can wait for him
here, but I have no idea when he’s supposed to return. I’d be glad to
keep you company, but I want to finish cleaning, at least what I’ve
started.”
Vera turned away and walked toward her room.
“Vera, one more question.”
“Sure.”
“Why do you have Playboy magazines in your hand?”
Totally embarrassed, Vera looked at her hand and blushed. She
was sure she’d thrown the magazines into the garbage before she
went to open the door.
“I found them under my bed, and I was about to throw them away
when the doorbell rang. Do you want them?”
“Do I look like someone who needs such magazines?”
Vera smirked. “Not really.”
