What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I have a strong interest in politics and despise that so many politicians use their positions for personal gain. I wanted to write a story with a corrupt politician as the antagonist, and what better hero that someone serving in the military.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Main protagonists are Zach Hinson and Jason Jones, called J.J.
In my original draft, Zach was identified as a direct descendent of Jack Hinson, a confederate sniper during the Civil War. I liked the idea of Zach being encouraged to become a sniper because of his family history. Sadly, my editor recommended the sections to the story that referenced Zach's history be removed during editing.
Jason was given the last name Jones because I wanted him to go by his initials. I wanted he and Zach to be best friends since childhood since Zach would be in the Marines and J.J. the Army.
The main antagonist is the U.S. President. He has no name in the book and is referred to only as the president. The story contains no references to a political party as I did not want the story to become one of political parties.
