About Ron Brandon:
30 years in the radio/rock & roll business. 20 years in nightclub business. This book is my only venture into writing. Written on a whim to satisfy demand of Facebook friends. Available only through the author and have no plans at this point to make it available through Amazon of other publishers.
What inspires you to write?
Memories that cried out to be put on paper. At my current age 83 I knew that if I did not commit these stories would be lost forever. Rock and roll radio disc jockeys thrived from the 50s through the 80s, but the memories and stories are now quickly fading into oblivion.
Tell us about your writing process.
Sit down and do it. Reread it. Rewrite it. Etc, etc.
What advice would you give other writers?
Be aware that like all businesses, it is far more complicated than you are likely aware.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
It took only a short time on the net to realize that any publishing deal would cost $5-10,000 and that I would have to submit to the publisher's demands (format, etc). I wrote it, I was the graphic artist, did the proofreading, did it all except the printing. Was able to include 150 pictures, many in color. Total cost for 100 books (93 pages) about $1300. And I am very pleased with the final product. Sold those 100 to friends on FB and consider the project a success if it goes no further.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Like the music business, once digital copying became available protection of your product is impossible. A tough way to attempt to make a buck.
What genres do you write?: nonfiction
What formats are your books in?: Print
