About M.A. Sparks:
M.A. Sparks is a Los Angeles based, Award Winning Writer and Filmmaker. Mr. Sparks graduated with a degree in anthropology from the University of Colorado and immediately began his writing career shortly thereafter. He is currently working on the science fiction/horror novel The X Species.
What inspires you to write?
Having the ability to use the power of words to create new worlds.
Tell us about your writing process.
It all begins with the idea, something that is compelling, that move me… then the outline, and finally the book.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Absolutely, they seem to take on a life of their own.
What advice would you give other writers?
Just to continue to write and tell stories that you are passionate about that moves you, don't follow the "trends".
How did you decide how to publish your books?
It boils down to one thing: control. I wanted to be in control of how my stories were told.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think the field is more leveled… writers have more control (and carry more responsibility) to get their books into reader's hands.
