About L. M. Lacee:
I grew up in Auckland, New Zealand, and traveled to America and Australia with my husband and four, now grown sons, experiencing different places, peoples and cultures.
Travelling spurred me on to writing. Some people may have said I was being nosy but to me, just people watching… From my 'watching' of different peoples when I lived overseas in cities like Los Angeles, Sydney, Santa Barbara, and then back to New Zealand I developed a good grasp of many different personalities which I infuse into my characters and hope this comes across to my readers.
We now live with our dogs in the beautiful, winter-less rural Northland, North Island of New Zealand.
What inspires you to write?
Reading romantic fantasy from my youth to science-fiction and classics in more recent times, my love for books and writing continues to inspire the creation of new stories set in new places with their own set of unique scenarios, adventures and love.
Now with all my grown son's scattered throughout the world I have the time to follow my passion in telling stories, uninterrupted, except for the pots of tea my husband devours daily.
Tell us about your writing process.
My writing process starts usually with a plot. Then I find the individual characters voices that I think will match the plot. As the story develops in my mind it then flows to my fingers and onto my screen. A seat of the pants writer I suppose.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
On one hand I would like to tell the truth here but on the other hand I value my freedom… Let us just say my characters have their own voices!
What advice would you give other writers?
Just do it. I know everyone says that and that is because it is the truth…
How did you decide how to publish your books?
My husband would be the best one to answer this as we are a team and publishing is his hat. I am a storyteller. He did say that traditional publishing was still a great way to go but due to his love of the internet he preferred eBook publishing.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I believe there is a place for both types of book publishing traditional and eBook.
