What inspires you to write?
It’s that warm, undeniable feeling that swells in your chest when you think of love—the kind that makes your heart feel both vulnerable and alive. For me, it was deeply personal. My journey into romantic fiction was driven by the desires and doubts that crowded my thoughts as I considered opening my heart to love again. Those emotions were raw and complex, and I found that turning them into fiction was not only cathartic but also exciting. Romantic fiction allows me to explore the beauty and challenges of love in a way that feels authentic because it flows directly from the heart. It’s a genre where I can bring my personal experiences and dreams to life, creating stories that resonate with readers on an emotional level.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
As a child, my favorite author was Enid Blyton. Her whimsical stories, especially her book Well Really, Mr. Twiddle! and others in the series, left an unforgettable mark on my imagination. Her ability to bring humor and charm into her storytelling inspired me to appreciate the magic of words and how they can transport readers to another world. Those early reading experiences shaped my love for storytelling and continue to influence my writing today.
Tell us about your writing process.
For me, writing begins with the raw emotions left behind by life’s pains, struggles, and joys. These experiences shape the stories I tell, and I pour them onto the page in their purest form. My faith in God naturally flows into my writing—it’s the anchor that inspires me to face life’s challenges and find meaning in them. Writing from the heart means expressing what’s real and authentic to me, and that includes weaving faith and hope into the fabric of my stories. It’s my way of connecting with readers on a deeper level, showing them that even in the hardest moments, there is beauty and purpose to be found
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I do. I connect deeply with my characters, especially the main character. When I write, it’s as if I step into her world and live her experiences alongside her. I feel her heartaches and her joy—I cry with her and laugh with her. In many ways, I feel like I am her. Writing becomes an intimate dialogue between us, where her emotions and struggles guide the story. It’s this connection that brings authenticity to my writing and allows me to create characters that readers can truly relate to.
What advice would you give other writers?
Do not procrastinate—get started on that book you’ve been planning to write. The hardest part is often taking the first step, but once you begin, the words will start to flow. Don’t worry about perfection in the beginning; just focus on putting your ideas down. Writing is a journey, and every draft gets you closer to the story you’re meant to tell. Trust your voice, stay consistent, and remember that every great author started with a single idea and the courage to begin.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
As a first-time author, I chose to self-publish my book because it gave me creative control over the process, from designing the cover to determining how my story would reach readers. I researched various publishing options and tools, eventually realizing that self-publishing aligned best with my goals. Platforms like Draft2Digital and IngramSpark offered me the flexibility and reach I needed to share my book with a wide audience.
For new authors, I would advise exploring both traditional and self-publishing options to see what fits your vision and resources. Traditional publishing can provide industry connections and credibility, but it often involves longer timelines and less creative control. Self-publishing, on the other hand, allows you to take the reins, but it also means you’ll need to invest time in learning about formatting, marketing, and distribution.
Ultimately, the best path is the one that aligns with your goals and the story you want to tell. Whichever route you choose, stay persistent and remember that your voice matters.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I believe the future of book publishing will become increasingly seamless as technology continues to evolve. With the rise of AI tools and advanced publishing platforms, it’s now easier than ever for authors to bring their stories to life. This progress will likely lead to a surge in self-published books across every genre, as more writers gain the resources and confidence to share their work independently. While traditional publishing will always have its place, the growing accessibility of self-publishing offers exciting opportunities for authors to connect directly with readers
