About Amere Dozier:
Amere Dozier is an urban fiction author from South Bend, Indiana. He writes with the intent to inspire the urban community to read more.
What inspires you to write?
The community I’m from. A lot of people don’t like to read where I’m from. I try to write stuff they can relate to.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
Jaquavis Coleman and Kwan Foye as of right now.
Tell us about your writing process.
I typically outline a beginning, middle, and end of every book. I literally just use a note book and write ideas for each part of every story. After I have my ideas together I put it into story mode on paper.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Yes, all of my characters relate to people I’ve met in my life or certain sides of me.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t rush the process but don’t let it sit stagnant for too long either. I recommend writing a couple paragraphs if not a chapter of your work every night.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
If I have a company who talks good number then I’ll go through them. If not then I self publish.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
It’s going to go digital. It already has if you think about it. Most people are reading off Kindle or they’re using audiobooks on their phones.
What genres do you write?: Urban, street lit
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print, Audiobook
