You will find in life that love is not perfect. Love can be something great but it can also hurt like a bitch all at the same time, it can cut you so deep that you just want to crawl in a hole and die and not try again. Most of the time though true love is worth the pain, not all times, but most times. In the case of my first love it wasn’t worth the pain but it taught me valuable lessons.
It was my first week as a freshman at East Davidson High School in Thomasville, North Carolina. It started out okay, I met a lot of new people and I liked most of my classes. I didn’t really feel scared about starting high school because I had my cousin Marie to talk to if I needed her. Marie was cool somewhat, she was a junior with red hair and she was short like me. The only bad thing about my cousin is she had a reputation of sleeping around at East.
My week started out great until that third day of school when I laid eyes on him and my heart stopped. By him I mean Billy Everett. Billy Everett wasn’t the typical jock at East but he was popular.
He stood about five foot four inches tall with tan skin and big strong muscles. His hair was straight and brown and his eyes were a dark sexy brown. He was very attractive, all the girls liked him and wanted him and the sad part was almost all the girls at East Davidson High School had him at least once, he was what you would call a man hoe. He loved sex but was afraid of commitment.
Billy and my friends Leigh and Tony and I all had lunch together that first semester and each day at lunch I would sit with them and occasionally talk to Billy. Our conversations would always start out random but that was just Billy. Our conversations would range from things like class, the military and anime cartoons. Every time I talked to him I wanted to know more and more about him.
It was toward the middle of September and all I could do was think about Billy and I couldn’t figure out why. I had an amazing boyfriend named Roy so why could I not get this guy out of my head? I wondered what I should do. One morning I asked Marie what I should do because she knew him a little too well. I mean she had dated him once.
“Beka just try to forget about him, yes he may look sexy but he is a man hoe and an ass to girls. Trust me, I know I dated him and truthfully he would probably never go for a girl like you. You are fourteen and he is seventeen so just forget it.”
I knew she was probably right but I still gave him my number after fourth period that day anyway, I secretly wanted her to be wrong and for some reason I liked him more than Roy I guess it was because I hardly ever got to see Roy and I got to see Billy every day.
Later that night about six o’clock my phone rung, I was doing math homework so I debated on answering it for a few seconds, finally I decided sure why not. I was in shock when I did because it was Billy. He had just gotten off of work, which at that time was working as a landscaper. We talked for a few minutes then I sadly went back to my algebra homework. Which sucked because math was one of my worst subjects.
