What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
First I had the experience of my 14 month old English Setter having two leg operations that were caused by too quick of growth from feeding puppy chow and the Vet saying that this danger is not talked about because the commercial dog food companies provide their research money. Then doing a little more research I discovered the awful things that were going into commercial dog food. I decided that I needed to tell other dog lovers what I discovered and try to convince them to immediately switch to a homemade dog food diet for their best friend.
Consequently, I wrote the book You’re Killing Your Dog. While it is only available now on Amazon Kindle it will soon be in print.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The only characters in this book are my dogs., two of which are mentioned; Baron and Duchess.
About the Author:
The author, Richard Terry, is an avid outdoorsman who has owned and trained dogs since he was a kid. While he focused on hunting dogs he has also owned other types of dogs, so he has a complete understanding of the responsibility and pleasure of having dogs as a cherished member of your family.
His friends and hunting buddies have always marveled at how many of his dogs lived well beyond life expectancy with few to no aliments and great energy. His English Setter, Duchess, that had the early leg problems, was 15 when she passed away and was active right up to the end of her life. Baron, his Golden Retriever lived until he was 19 year old and hunted until his last 6 months.
Richard attributes his success with his dogs to getting away from commercial dog food and making homemade dog food for his dogs. Since he switched to homemade dog food years ago, virtually all of Dick’s dogs have enjoyed a long and healthy life.
Now retired after a successful business career he has turned his attention to writing books on Kindle. Richard is an accomplished home cook and has written several cookbooks. He specialized in wild game cooking with the belief that if you are going to harvest it you have the responsibility to use it as great food for your family and friends.
