What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
This book was started on NanoWrimo in 2014 as an incentive to encourage my boys to write. I never finished it and years later turned it into a short story when I entered the author market. I always wanted to complete the story and took a stab at it off and on over the years. Then in 2024 I buckled down and completed it. All in all it was my young boys who got me inspired to write this and other stories.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I created my characters as I wrote the story. At night I would dream up the characters, their names sometimes and what they would be doing. Other than that I am a panster, but later when I turned it into a short story I went back and did character sheets and adjusted the story so that the characters came to life. All names for each character like Tobias came from my imagination. The only name that ultimately came from real life was the dog. I met a dog at RADCON a few years ago whose name was so close to my dogs name in the story. I asked if I could use their dogs name. The breeds are different but Snarks was reborn as Stark that day.
