What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The news around me lately have been focused much on political and economical issues, and then I was like 'what if…'? That sort of gave the idea for the world building. However, the main reason for writing Yael, Wake Up, with the series theme as a whole is my love for sad, somehow tragic man to man romances that I rarely find in the stores nowadays. I guess it's just my failure in searching, but most are really focused on the smutty side of things. I like stories with hot scenes, but more than that, I love books that can make me cry. And I only have a few books under MM romance in my head which had me bawling. If I can't find those sort of tragic, sad stories I want, why not write one? I'm not saying though that Wake UP series is pure and full of drama. I just want to have a book with a bit painful, lasting kind of bite.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I came up with my characters while listening to some depressing instrumentals. Yael, pronounced as 'Ya-El' is something that I just made up. When I searched it online though, it turned out it has a Hebrew meaning about a goat and if I can remember, something like 'Strength of God' as well. Yael is a very jaded, twisted character. Very far from being a strength of God, but I think the contradiction suited my main character very well.
As for the second main which is Jeremy, I was only thinking of a sweet, sounding name. A name that would picture someone selfless, forgiving and at the same time strong. Jeremy just popped out and I never tried to think of another name.

Yael,
I love your eyes when they’re not red from drugs.
I love your lips when they’re not dry from smoke.
Your gentle laughter, your gentle smiles, I miss them as they slowly fade.
I crave when you love me out of your heart, not because you’re too high.
I fall in love again when you hold and play the guitar.
When you sing to me you make me feel so blessed.
You know, the world may not believe you could still change. But I do. That’s why I’m just here and I’ll keep up.
I’ll stay with you.
-Jeremy
