What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I found my passion for writing after reading my first fantasy romance. I fell in love, and when I finished the book, I was devastated. Let me tell you, book hangovers? They're real, and they're brutal. I missed the characters, the fictional people who'd become my friends, and it inspired me to create my own, so I did. A spark ignited within me, and writing fiction has been my passion ever since.
My debut, Violets & Vipers, has been a blessing to write. I am deeply honored to be able to share my story with you.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The characters in Violets & Vipers each represent a different part of me, and many of their struggles within the story mirror my own. The main character, Isadora, is a kind, loving, and gentle soul who’s been dealt a rough hand. Born into nobility, she lives in the Duchy of Wynter with her father, Alistair, and her younger brother, Caleb. Her mother tragically passed away in Isadora’s youth, and her father succumbed to alcoholism, turning him into a vicious man with little regard for his children outside of how they affect his reputation. Despite her struggles, she never loses her light and love for others. She’s a sensitive, deeply empathetic person who desperately wants to feel loved and feel as though she belongs, something I think a lot of us can resonate with. Yet despite all the challenges and tragedies that are thrown at her, she perseveres, thinking only of how she can help others. She never quits, her eyes always on growth and chasing her dreams, and when she does fall, she has a wonderful support network to pick her back up and help her while she heals. I hope readers will connect with Isadora. I hope she helps them feel comforted, validated, and encouraged.
