What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I've had the idea for this book for about 15 years and never made the decision to write it until now. I had Heart surgery a year ago and that triggered me to write. I figured its now or never.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The main character is inspired by my own persona. I am very similar to Nick in character. Phil, V, and Mort are all derivatives of friends and family
The first thing I remember upon waking was the voice.
There was no kindness in it. It was a shrill hiss that grated
my very soul.
“You know you want to,” the voice said. “The boy is
asleep, and tonight you’re alone with him. It’ll be easy.
He’ll be your first young one. Not like that old fucker you
did for your first. This one’s full of life, and he’s yours to
take! Like you always wanted.”
I blinked my eyes open in the dim light and saw a fe-male
nurse standing at the foot of my bed, staring blankly
in my direction. She was probably middle aged, late thir-ties,
early forties, slightly overweight, and otherwise as
nondescript as could be. In a crowd, you wouldn’t have
looked at her twice. It wasn’t any of these things that
caught my attention. It was the creature that was cling-ing
It was small, slender yet strongly built. Tentacle-like ap-pendages
where its legs should have been were wrapped
around her midsection. It had one arm across her shoul-der,
pulling its gray body tight up against her as it whis-pered
in her ear.
“You know you want to. It makes you hot to think
about how easy it would be to snuff his life out like a
candle.” The creature reached down to her crotch with
one of its tentacle legs. It went right through her cloth-ing
as if it were made of smoke. It began to move its limb
back and forth rhythmically.
“Do it…I need to feed.” Its face was pure evil. I
“Help!” I yelled at the top of my lungs.
That snapped her out of her reverie. With a startled
look, she stumbled two steps away from the bed.
“Help!” I bellowed again.
“Kill him! I’m hungry!” the creature hissed angrily,
sensing its chance slipping away.
The door burst open, and an overweight orderly lum-bered
into the room. He hit the light switch and the room
became painfully bright.
“What is going on here?” he said in a heavy New York
accent. To say he was fat was an understatement. This
man easily weighed more than three hundred pounds.
He had no neck to speak of, and even in the chilly air
of the hospital, sweat stains spread out from his armpits.
He had two creatures clinging to him.
At that point, I thought I was going insane.
