Shelley and David are a couple of almost-empty-nesters preparing to embark on the next stage of their life. They’ve just ordered white furniture and are planning the vacation they’ve waited their entire lives to take.
Their lives are catapulted in a completely different direction when Alexandra, seventeen and pregnant, shows up on their doorstep and announces that she’s the daughter they never knew they had! Their life becomes filled with dilemmas as they add not only another child, but also a baby to a household that was just about to become serene.
Shelley feels like she no longer fits in anywhere and to top it off, having two teenaged girls suddenly plunged into being sisters and school mates is not exactly warm and fuzzy. When Alexandra’s behavior becomes erratic, the couple is faced with even tougher decisions to make.
Hold on for an emotional yet witty ride as you join this family of characters in a story of love, loyalty, heartbreak, and humor that will stay with you long after you turn the last page!

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
I think an important aspect of contemporary women’s fiction is to provide a sense of commiseration, emotions, and a good old-fashioned escape! Since most of my readers are women, our free time is very valuable to us and I strive to make readers’ free time spent on my books to be worthwhile.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Just write your book! Don’t worry about what you’re going to do with it later—if it’s not written, it can never be published! Also, if you decide to move forward with independent publishing in the future, do not skip the very important aspect of hiring a professional editor to fine-tune before your book is released. Remember, being an author is a slow, long-term process, and ideally you want people to enjoy and recommend your books, and look for your future works!

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
While “Unexpecting” reads well as a stand-alone book, I wanted to provide a “what happens in the future?” story to continue with the characters from my novel, “Momnesia.” I like to write about families, women, and things that could happen in real life… my signature is my conversational writing style that often puts voice to thoughts and feelings people wouldn’t normally discuss out loud!
