As a new indie author I have attempted to put my novel in to paper back print via Amazon’s CreateSpace. I was surprised how easy all the different stages were and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of my shiny new novel to arrive. What a shock when I opened the book to find that the font was so tiny, a mouse would need a magnifying glass to read it! What had I done wrong.
After muchas pleading for help on the many different forums, I finally came to the conclusion that I had not changed the size of the page when converting to pdf. Plus I hadn’t set the margins correctly. So I returned to the original file and made good what I ‘think’ I needed to do then changed to pdf again and resubmitted a new file. To my shock (yet again!) my novel had doubled in page numbers. What was a 270 page book was, and is now a 430 page book. Hence putting up the price so that no one will probably buy it anyway.
In conclusion – I am now awaiting the proof copy to see if I’ve got it right this time.
Meanwhile I organised my promotion of the 5 FREE days allowed on KDP Amazon. I know, I know I hear you say, it takes time. Yeah but, Yeah but, I still haven’t sold any copies of my ebook other than to family. OK I had just over 1000 downloads, but this is minor compared to others I’ve read about.
In conclusiion – I’m eagerly awaiting for that all important feedback. The first one from a member of the public that doesn’t know me.
By the way I’m currently writing Book 2 while all this goes on around me. All this promotion and PR work is mind boggling, hard work, time consuming and frustrating.
In conclusion – I feel a huge sigh of relief when I can finally just sit and type my story and let it roll out on to my computer. Aaah to be a writer and create my little stories, wonderful.
