How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
I have written romance books and mystery books. I have found that the biggest difference between the genres is that mystery books are more focused on the plot, whereas romance books are more focused on the characters. Of course, characters drive the plot in both genres, but plot twists and turns are of paramount importance in the mystery/ thriller genre.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
I would advise aspiring writers to keep writing. Never give up. There is plenty of room for every writer and their book. Every book is unique, just as every writer is unique. I would say to write from the heart, especially the first draft. Get all your thoughts down on paper/ computer. Leave your head to deal with the editing process later.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Several people have gone missing in the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland. Some have been missing for decades and never been found. One woman was last seen walking up her drive, seconds from her front door when she disappeared. I have always been fascinated by the idea of what happens when someone disappears.
Traceless explores the aftermath of what happens to those left behind when a loved one vanishes without a trace.
