What if I told you that everything you have been told about dieting and eating for optimum health is wrong? What if I demonstrated with compelling facts that the past 30 years of expert advice on dieting has done more harm than good? What if I pointed to statistics that show 85% of dieting attempts end in failure and that a simple “Eating Less – Exercise More” approach to weight loss is like fighting a forest fire with a plastic water pistol?
The Micronutrient Solution is a compelling, concise, eye-opening, and even, lighthearted look at our national health and obesity crisis on one hand. On the other hand, it is an individual action plan and road map to a permanent healthful life. It presents an honest and simple solution to weight loss that has been missing. It is guaranteed to produce a mind-shift in those who have trusted in conventional wisdom regarding how to live healthfully.

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
I have found that writing in the area of health, wellness, and weight loss requires great discipline. There is the need to do a tremendous amounts of research. It is also important to validate that research through personal experience or first hand knowledge. For example a report may say that people who consume a specific quantity of water everyday are healthier than those who don’t. However, recommending an increase in water consumption without understanding what it takes to make such a change or knowing the easiest ways to succeed isn’t always helpful to readers. Finally, good editing is important. There are so many ideas, theories, and scientific models in the areas of health and nutrition one could write volumes on the subject. It can be challenging to keep a book simple and stick to the information that people need really need. This was a crucial goal for me, which is why I set a maximum page limit before I stared The MicroNutrient Solution. Readers of the book describe it as dense with no fluff. They say that it has a lot of great information in a easy to read format. In the end, I choice to make all the extra material that did not make it into the book free on my website.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
I would say to anyone considering writing a book for the first time to write with a higher purpose in mind. The process of writing can be so personally demanding, I can’t imagine doing it without some higher purpose as my motivation. If you are writing because you know your story needs to be told or you know your message can change lives then it is not hard to do what it takes to produce a remarkable book.
Author Bio:
Chef Shedric is former Vice President of Culinary Research and Development for The Olive Garden Restaurants and former Culinary Development Director for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. He spent most of his professional career studying what drives us to eat the way we eat. Now he is applying what he learned from years of sophisticated consumer research to a higher calling. Shedric is transforming lives by sharing the secrets to eating our way to great health and weight loss – rather than starving ourselves.
In his book, The MicroNutrient Solution: Healing, Health, Vitality, and Weight Loss God’s Way, he exposes the most common diet myths that stand in the way of great health and weight loss.
“As a professional researcher, I could not understand why I could not permanently lose weight in spite of intense exercise and rigid dieting. Once I discovered the importance of eating an abundance of micronutrients daily, I spent the next two years validating the scientific principles behind The Micronutrient Solution”
In less than two years, Shedric read 50 books on diet, health, and nutrition and earned a certification as a nutrition consultant. His research led him to the conclusion that most of what we have been taught about dieting is simply wrong.
Shedric studied food science at California Polytechnic University, where he earned a Bachelor’s in Science. He is also a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. In addition, he holds a certification as a nutrition and wellness consultant.
Shedric honed his culinary skills at five star properties like the Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington DC, a favorite of the world’s politically elite, literally across the street from the White House and the Loews Santa Monica Beach Resort in Santa Monica California.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Seeing family, friends, and people in my community under attack from preventable disease like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure inspired me to start doing free healthy cooking seminars and to begin writing a healthy cookbook. Meeting and helping people who were struggling to improved their health by making lifestyle changes made it clear that most people needed more than a book of recipes and pretty pictures. What the people attending my classes needed was an easy to follow plan to turn their lives. Working first hand with people in need, I immediately shifted my focus to sharing what I had learn from my personal struggles with weight and health challenges into a total lifestyle makeover, which became The MicroNutrient Solution including the 12-Week Sustainable Nutrition Action Plan.
