What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The young boy in this story Michael was my inspiration. His life story was one that needed to be told. Although being a troubled child, Michael was an exceptional student. He loved school and did very well by receiving numerous awards and certificates.
Parents play a huge role in children's lives and without their love, affection, support and a listening ear, children may feel unwanted and neglected. The story of Michael is one that many may find heartreaking. It's a story, I may hope to bring understanding and light to parents who may be neglectful to their kids or even ignore their spoken and unspoken words.
Michael’s mother seeing her sister’s number, refused to take
the call. His aunt had to use other resources to get into contact
with her. Michael stayed with her at the station while patrol
officers was sent to get house. Michael’s aunt promised her
sister that one day she would get her for advantaging her role as
a mother. She would not stand by and watch as she mistreated
Michael or any of her children. Time passed as Michael’s
mother refused to be co-operative with the officers. Michael
was taken to his aunt’s place where he spent the night. Next
morning he explained everything that happened and how he
felt about the situation and the way he was treated. He broke
down crying as he said, “my mother doesn’t love me and she
never listen to me.” Michael’s aunt was heartbroken, she had
done everything she could to get Michael away from his mother
and into a better life. But with her working all the time she
couldn’t keep Michael and the law stated that she had to have
solid evidence of child abuse and neglect for him to be removed
from the home.
The officers who went to Michael’s home to speak to his
mother and stepfather suggested that they pick up family
counseling. They stated that Michael was at a good age of 12
years and now would be the best time to get started. Michael’s
mother performingly agreed and went about her night, as
stated by the officers. Without having a second option at hand,
Michael was taken back to his mother’s. His aunt reassured
him that she would keep in close contact with him regularly
henceforth to keep up with his doings. Michael being very
sad and upset about having to return home hugged his aunt
tightly and cried endlessly. It wasn’t to long after, probably two
weeks after the last incident with his mother and stepfather.
