They were sisters—twins—and they loved each other dearly. Who or what could threaten such a sisterhood bond?
The Hastie Girls, a coming-of-age book, is the first installment of a two part series. Set in the 1950s, within the confines of sheltered English village life, their dreams had been simple. Emily only yearned for a small-town romance, and Belle sought adventure with aspirations to be a doctor. At first, it seems Emily is to have her coming of age romance, but deception takes the forefront of her tale. Instead, Belle may have found both love and medicine beyond the moors of the English countryside.
Will the thrill of adventure and first loves collide for the sisters? Will their loyalties be challenged? Take this journey of shocking naivety to shattered dreams in this sister story and discover if anything can last forever.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My inspiration comes from my mother’s journey of growing up in the English countryside, and where I spent many summers with my sister. I loved hearing her stories of becoming a doctor back in the 1960's and the challenges from coming from a small village. My mother's stories and my own sisterhood bond created this fictional story.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
My characters are a mixture of people I know and love, and even may despise. For instance, the sisters' mother is a mixture of my own mother, but also my very proper grandmother. The two main characters, the sisters, definitely resemble the bond my sister and I had, although situations are fictional and certain traits exaggerated. One of the villains, James, is based off an older man my sister dated who I didn't particularly like. I imagined him being much worse when I wrote this, and my sister being blind to his ways. I mix in my imagination for more conflict, all the possible outcomes — good and bad.
