Keep at it! If you only write a thousand or so words a week, you’ve got a book in a year.
Keep reading.
Make sure you create a good balance between writing and the rest of your life. It can be quite isolating so don’t forget to take time to be with friends and family

Jessica Hemingway is the author of Consumed and The Beadmaker. She has two daughters and lives in New Zealand with her husband. She loves travelling and dancing.
A friend gave me a necklace she had made. As she told me about carving a piece of Kauri gum for the central pendant, the idea for the book began developing in my head. The minute I arrived home I began researching stones, gems and beads.
