When Laura Langston, a nurse from Oklahoma City, went to Siena, Italy, to celebrate her 60th birthday, she was not looking for a man. But, there he was – 62-year-old Raffaele Balducci, a talented potter, jazz guitarist, father, and grandfather. His face was pleasantly wrinkled from many years under the Tuscan sun. He had lively brown eyes and dark wavy hair sprinkled with gray. Their attraction was swift and strong. Laura and Raffaele were old enough to know how love works and brave enough to search for their own way forward.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
I advise aspiring writers to read a lot and identify what they like and dislike about the books they read. Before starting a novel, research times, places, and world events that may have influenced the main characters. I also recommend creating a scene list, which can be changed, as needed along the way. That helps keep timelines and plots from getting skewed.
Ann M. Streetman may have inherited her interest in storytelling from her father who could spin a good tale. Then came her degree in journalism and a lifelong career in many kinds of communication.
She served more than 14 years in various management positions (including president and chief paid staff) of Texas Safety Association, which was a not-for-profit statewide educational organization.
Before and after association management, she enjoyed freelance manuscript book editing (21 books).
Along the way, she also served for 9 years as media contractor for Region 6 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (5 states and the Indian Nations via the Bureau of Indian Affairs Indian Highway Safety Program). Her duties there included developing educational materials for Region 6 entities and their partners.
Now she enjoys writing ebooks for adults and children. What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
A growing number of older people are migrating to e-books. I want them to have some characters in their age range to enjoy.
