As Alex takes on her new role as a Tracker, an elite soldier of the King’s Army, she goes undercover in the market in Agana to gather intelligence and encounters the pirate spy known only as the Horseman at the tent of the renowned fortunetellers, the Witches of Winden. When she returns to her command and reports the incident to her superiors, she’s assigned her first Tracker mission–find and kill the Horseman or die trying. Without any clues as to his real identity, she pieces together his trail, which leads her deep into the pirate stronghold. How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
The fantasy genre easily incorporates elements from other genres into it. For instance, even though my book is a fantasy, I have elements of action-adventure, romance, coming of age, spy thriller, and even chick-lit. It’s the only genre I write in, so I can’t really compare it.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Keep writing and don’t give up.
I was born in Chicago, but left when I was 8. My family moved to Japan for 4 years and then returned to the States to Phoenix, Arizona. I graduated from Camelback High School and went to college until I dropped out to join the Navy. After 3 years, I got out and went back to college, getting a Bachelor’s in Accounting and an MBA in Finance. I went back in the Navy and completed my career with 22 years of service. In addition, I also attained a Master of Military Arts and Sciences Degree from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. After my husband passed away, I went back to work for a short period, but I got bit by the writing bug. I retired again to devote my time to my new passion.
