Domestic violence is an insidious malady, hidden in the shadows of shame and misplaced blame. It plagues families around the world, the trauma and harmful behavior patterns inherited by each generation.
This anthology reflects the feelings of victims and those they love, interspersed with statistics to emphasize the prevalence of situations of physical, sexual, emotional, and verbal abuse.
A portion of the proceeds from this anthology will be used to support victims of domestic violence.
Together we can stop this vicious cycle. Sharing stories and understanding sheds light on unacceptable behavior and empowers victims.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
While I have not experienced domestic violence personally, several members of my family are survivors of domestic abuse. I decided to compile an anthology of short stories and poetry, some of which is memoir and some of which is fiction, to support the victims and survivors I know. Their bravery is truly inspiring.
Additionally, I hope to enable people, whether victims or not, to discuss these issues and show their empathy.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
My character Gabriela, from my short story that is included in the anthology, introduced herself to me as if she was a new friend I met at a party. I had to keep asking her questions to learn the story of how she came to live in the US. I look forward to learning more about her as I continue writing stories about her live experiences.
