What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
This book was inspired by all the young riders I have had the opportunity to ride with. And as a rider as a child, this a part of how I felt towards my ponies as a child and I thought that young children would relate to the love and bond that a child has with their horses and ponies.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The main character in my book is a young girl named Sierra. I wanted the character to be sweet and have a love for animals and the outdoors. I was riding my horse once day and this name came to mind as a possible name for my character and I started writing the story. I am very happy with my illustrator Marian Gorin and her bringing this story to life with her beautiful illustrations.
Sierra was little girl who loved ponies more than anything in the world. Her mom and dad would buy her dolls to play with. Sierra did not like dolls. She loved ponies.
When Sierra would come home from school, she would walk to the farm next door. She would ride their pony Storm and loved the freedom of running in the woods.
