Rescue Me is a little book with a big mission – to raise sensitivity to the plight of neglected and homeless dogs, and to recognize the unexpected miracles these dogs inspire in the hearts of those who love them. This book is an inspiring collection of 12 true tales of extraordinary commitment, faith in the midst of challenges, twists of fate, second chances, and the magical joy that canine companionship brings.
Donations from the proceeds of Rescue Me benefit non-profit shelters and rescue organizations.
How did you decide to create a trailer and what was your experience?
I was somewhat afraid of creating a video trailer because it seemed complicated. I knew it would be good for us to have one as video is a very popular. When I saw an on-line video maker with templates I thought, let’s go for it. I wanted to have photos of all the contributors and dogs of Rescue Me in the trailer, so I uploaded them, matched them to a licensed song and did a little tweaking to get it right. Surprisingly, it only took an hour or so, and it turned out nice – pulls my heartstrings every time I watch it.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
When my dog Louis died, I was very lonely for another dog (even though I kept telling myself I didn’t want another one right then). I kept looking on petfinder at the dogs and clicked links to read about the shelters and rescues. I was overwhelmed by how many homeless dogs there are and how much of a struggle it is for rescuers to raise adequate funds. Some of the conditions at the facilities was less than adequate, even though they were doing their best. I wanted to do something to help raise funds and awareness, something that would inspire people to adopt and be responsible pet guardians. What came to me was this book. My contributors inspired me to keep going until the book was done. Their commitment to saving dogs and their beautiful stories won my heart.
