What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I wanted to question subconscious intolerance and the totalitarian mindset.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I wanted a lead who was fully indoctrinated in society's worldview so that he would provide a foil to subversive opinions – I didn't want a hero but someone quite ordinary thrust into unexpected adventure. The other main characters are subversives as far as society is concerned, questioning the dominant worldview – they needed to be earnest but not violent or intolerant.
