What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
We were rereading our Lodestar Diaries series and listening to the song "Brother" by Kodaline. It struck us that the song fit perfectly for a couple of our pirate characters, and they needed a backstory. As soon as we started thinking about them, the story just flowed, and now I feel like we were inspired to write the first series just so we could write the Redbeard trilogy.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
One of our main characters, Gunthar, was inspired by a dream while writing the Lodestar Diaries series. Iver was only briefly mentioned as the father of that series' friendly pirate captain, Duggan, who had inherited his ship, the Aisling. But when we conceived of the idea for his and Gunthar's backstory, we got a better feel for his character and found inspiration in the persona of Italian actor Stefano Masciolini (even though Iver is actually Irish).
