ORPHANS of an ANGEL is a tragic, but true story of Evelyn Dalton’s struggle to survive, burdened by destitution and serious health conditions. Social Services become concerned and consider taking her four boys into foster care. As if matters couldn’t get worse, husband Eddie abandons the family and plunges her life into dire straits and purgatory when she is evicted from her home. Unexpectedly, Evelyn collapses with excruciating abdominal pains and is admitted to hospital for emergency open surgery. Misdiagnosis of her symptoms result in her drifting into a coma. Unable to stem her internal bleed, she is placed on a life support machine. Three days later, the decision to turn off life support condemns her to a slow death. At midnight, Evelyn becomes an angel. Her four boys become orphans, as there is family to care for them. Her boys are condemned to a Foster Home. They never see their mother again as their crisis deepens into a battle for their own survival. Motherless, fatherless, homeless and destitute, they became four orphans. They have lost everything.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My grandad was ten-years-old, just like me. His storytelling took my imagination to far-off places. He inspired me to write. The biography of my mother's plight, a tragic but true story of her life of destitution set against a backdrop of ill health was a story crying out to be told.
It seemed dad didn’t actually care where we lived, or how we lived, or even if we lived. We seemed to be an inconvenience. His life and love was occupied elsewhere. Our lives had changed. Love had left our lives. Even orphans had some kind of love. We had no-one to love us. Only the distant memories of love remained.
Homeless, motherless, fatherless and unloved, we were all split up once more. Fate seemed to be against us, ever since Alex and I broke mum’s large mirror in 1962. Seven years of bad luck began.
