What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I was inspired to write this book by a desire to learn what ancient spiritual masters taught about how we humans are meant to interact with animals and the natural world. In the face of so much neglect, cruelty, and devastation to the planet, I wanted to understand who we are really meant to be in relationship with fellow beings on this planet.

What roles and responsibilities do humans have toward animals and what roles are they meant to fulfill for us?

These are fair questions. The desire to answer them honestly and with certainty inspired my research into ancient wisdom teachings and practices. My central query has been to discover the original intention of the Creator
and early peoples regarding man’s rightful interactions with the rest of the animal kingdom.

To uncover this information, I read about ancient practices and belief systems. From sacred writings, I gleaned spiritual truths taught by prophets
and sages who confronted human-centric dogma in order to discern common threads woven throughout indigenous and religious traditions. These teachings reveal the non-negotiable truths and laws written on the hearts and minds of humankind as spoken of in sacred texts.

They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness … (Romans 2:15)

To round out my exploration, I delved into historical and scientific perspectives on human interconnections with Earth and our fellow beings. This inquiry led to thought-provoking ideas that challenged and corroborated my beliefs and expanded my focus to include the whole of
the natural world that sustains us all. Throughout the process, I enjoyed immersing myself in the plethora of information available in books, videos,
and articles before synthesizing the information into this book.

This adventure has not been without frustration. Sometimes, it was difficult to separate fact from fiction, opinions, and speculation. Ancient manuscripts have been mistranslated, altered, destroyed, and suppressed accidentally or on purpose to forward agendas and thwart
the truth. It proved impossible to know exactly how much the current texts differ from original teachings. I can only hope that the scriptural passages included in this book accurately capture the spirit of truth and the prevailing belief system at the time they were written. I apologize in
advance for inaccuracies that have found their ways into this book.
