What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Especially during the pandemic where students were forced to stay indoors and spent less and less time with others, teens have felt more isolated than ever. Sometimes this isolation leads to other emotions such as anger. Anger has been a problem that has affected teens across socio-economic backgrounds, races, cultures, and sex. This is the first book in a series of books to come to give actionable steps in managing one's anger.
Overcoming Stigma, Knowing Your Self Worth & Believing You Can Change!
Ok, so you are probably looking at the title of this chapter and thinking ‘oh no, some more new age mumbo jumbo.’ But bear with me, because actually, this is one of the most important chapters in this whole book.
I want you to realise that, although this journey of self-discovery is not always going to be an easy one, you are worth it!
It’s not uncommon for youngsters with anger issues to be branded as ‘the bad kid’ or that they will never make anything of themselves, and this can often lead to huge issues with self-esteem.
We know from years of studies, that if a child grows up with a parent, carer or other influential adult telling them that they are bad, useless, naughty etc that they will often take on this as their actual persona.
This is what we call a ‘life script’ and why from a young age, the messages that we receive about ourselves from the people surrounding us are crucial.
A child who is constantly given positive messages such as ‘you are so clever’ and ‘you are so good.’ Will grow up with the belief this is who they are.
On the flip side of that same coin, someone who has grown up with messages of ‘you are naughty’ will often believe this to be the truth, and act in this way as they grow into their teenage years because it is stamped on their brains that this is who they are.
So basically, your anger issues are probably not entirely your fault! (We will discuss this in further detail later in the book.)
I am here to tell you that your path is not pre-determined. You are young, and there is still plenty of time to forge your own way in society, to become the person that you want to be, rather than the person you have been programmed to believe you are.
If you can master the skill of self-belief, this is going to set you on a path to unbelievable things.
