Tess has very little. No family, no friends, no one she can count on. She leads a quiet, carefree, but lonely life.
Then she’s abducted.
Taken to a secluded ranch owned by a ‘family’ with extreme views and even more extreme practices, she’s thrown into a life of enslavement. Always one to be strong, Tess keeps her head held high, even when she should be cowering in fear. As she struggles to find a way home, she’s confronted with more danger than she’d thought possible. But through it all, she also finds an ally.
Jameson doesn’t know what he wants. He knows that his family, his role, and his reputation are all on the line if he doesn’t fulfill his obligations. Unlike the rest of his ‘family’, he’s not sure if he wants the job. He doesn’t think he’s ready for what they have planned. Until he meets her…
Forced to spend countless days together testing each others patience, Tess and Jameson come to the realization that affection almost always trumps duty, first impressions can be deceiving, and home isn’t always where your heart is.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I’ve always liked the idea of writing a book about a cult, one that didn’t really exist. Once I started researching different cults in real life, I wanted to do it that much more. I also wanted the story to center around a strong female who knew she would never belong and knew she would never stop fighting to leave. But the twist I decided to use didn’t come until I had already started writing the book. It went from being a thriller about a woman who is taken to a story about forbidden love. The characters just took on a life of their own and by the end, I knew that their story was far from over. That’s when I started ‘Taming the Cult’.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Tess, in a small part, is everything I’d like to be in real life. She’s strong, never bows down, never takes no for an answer, yet knows that sometimes she has to go with the flow in order to achieve her goals. This duality is something that I think every woman can relate to.
As for Jameson, I really intended him to be a monster. But as time went on, and I grew to really know him, he morphed into something entirely different. He became a savior in Tess’ eyes. I really like how readers fell head over heels in love with him even after they had instantly disliked him in the beginning.

“You will speak when you are spoken to.”
My jaw drops open, but only for a second. Only until I realize that I’ve never let a man speak to me like this before, and I’m sure as hell not going to start now.
“I’m not a dog. I don’t take commands.”
Jameson’s eyes flicker over to our company and the eldest man nods. I don’t even think about the significance of the gesture until my head whips to the side, popping my neck and sending shock waves of pain across my cheekbone and up through my eye socket. My eyes instantly water; not because he scared me or because I’m shocked that a man hit me… my eyes water because it fucking hurt.
Stretching my mouth open while I cradle my jaw in my hand, I cautiously look over my shoulder. One thick vein running up Jameson’s neck is pulsing and he seems to be grinding his teeth. I don’t know why he looks so on edge when I’m the one who just got bitch slapped.
“You will speak,” he repeats slowly, “when you are spoken to. Do you understand?”
