“Let it Be a River” is about grace overflowing in the life of this New Jersey girl. Stories of a volcano, a hurricane, a tornado–and a beagle puppy–all serve to illustrate how God shows up in the midst of crises, fear, and the rough times of life. Judith’s first book, “To See the Sky: Vignettes of Grace,” was all about finding spiritual help in some very ungraceful times. You’ll find humor and love in abundance!

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Life gets rough sometimes, and the world offers a lot of tools to deal with it all: self-help books and expensive counsellors and spiritual gurus, and other medicinal tools that perhaps are not in your best interest. Judith Hugg wanted to write down for you how God showed up in her life to help her overcome some of the aberrations and dysfunctions of family and depression and divorce with faith and hope and grace. This isn’t a book of religion, but a book of discovery. “Let it Be a River” and its predecessor, “To See the Sky” are about grace overflowing in the messiness of life.

If Dad had lived to be 93 or 103, it would have never been enough time. I would still be aching for that one more hour, one more day, to be in his presence, hear his stories, and smell the Old Spice aftershave. And that, ultimately, would still never be enough. Christianity resonates for me for a thousand different reasons, not the least of which is this eternity thing. We never have to say good-byes again. We never have to grieve again. Presence is endless. We never have to run out of time; time is out of the picture. One more hour and one more hour and one more hour, praising God in endless completeness and perpetual now means no more loss, no more tears, and no more regrets because time is obliterated in eternity. I get to be with God and everything and everyone who God loves. And God will finally, eternally be enough for even me.
