What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Most of my stories are written in my dreams. My fingers are just the historians that record the stories the next morning. This is one of those stories. I hope your vision of Jingalow is as terrifying as mine was in my dreams! He waits for you inside this story if you dare to enter. If you do open this book, he will find you.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Beyond the ethereal characters that appeared in my dreams, I added a few students to fill in some gaps. I also researched songs that were in public domain that were appropriate for the story. I got very lucky with the songs I found. They were perfect!
The beginning of a new ending. It was imperceptible at first. As the sun rose, an ill wind edged towering black storm clouds up over the far horizon. A gasping breath from a long sealed crypt escaped otherworldly bounds. A primeval serpent slithered ever upward from cavernous depths. Inevitability silently approached. That which was long forgotten reemerged. Ancient shackles fell broken to the ground. That which happened long ago would happen soon again. It was always this way. Only time had forgotten events from the past. This was a day that would not be soon forgotten. And so it began, again.
Everyday presented the same old faces in the same old places. The only difference between yesterday and today was a number on a calendar. That was about to change. A life changing ray of heartwarming sunshine was about to pierce those black clouds of constant drudgery. This morning a new face appeared over the horizon. It was a happy face. It was a smiling face. Most importantly it was a new face. That face was attached to a rare species. They call his lot substitute teachers. Like a new recruit on his first guard duty, he stood proudly at attention in front of the classroom. He stood ready, willing, and able to boldly guide fresh young minds on a full days journey into learning. The teachers eyes followed the children as they entered the classroom. From his facial expression it was obvious that an eternal wellspring of hopeful exuberance bubbled up from deep within him. A little smile crossed his lips. His brow had not a single furrow. A twinkle sparkled in his eye. He bore the rosy cheeked look of eternal hope.
