How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
Mysteries and suspense-thrillers like mine must be fast paced with plenty of action and suspense. I try to make my readers worry! What will happen to the characters? They’re always getting into trouble! And my series protagonist, Homicide Detective Frank Renzi, has his own share of exciting scenes, chasing serial killers and vicious stalkers.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Make your book the best it can be! Let the rough draft sit for two weeks, then look at it with a critical eye. I always find areas for improvement. I often revise my manuscript several times. But eventually, it’s done. Then I hire an editor to find all the little pesky mistakes. One more read-through, and I’m ready to publish. Yes, it’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it when I get great reviews on Amazon!
