Interview with Author – The Silver Elves

By Book Goodies Leave a Comment

Author Bio:
The Silver Elves are a family of elves who have been living and sharing the Elven Way since 1975.

They have had various articles published in Circle Network News Magazine and have given out over 6000 elven names to interested individuals in the Arvyndase language, with each elf name having a unique meaning specifically for that person. They are also mentioned numerous times in Not In Kansas Anymore by Christine Wicker (Harper San Francisco, 2005), and A Field Guide to Otherkin by Lupa (Megalithica Books, 2007). An interview with the Silver Elves is also included in Emily Carding’s recent book Faery Craft.

The Silver Elves understand the world as a magical or miraculous phenomena, and that all beings, by pursuing their own true path, will become whomever they truly desire to be. The Elven Way is the spiritual Path of the Elves. It is not a religion. While all elves are free to pursue whatever spiritual path they desire, or not as the case may be, these elves are magicians and follow no particular religious dogma. The Elven Way promotes the principles of Fairness, that is to say both Justice, Elegance and Equal Opportunity and Courtesy that is respectful in its interactions and attitude toward all beings, great or small. They understand the world as a magical or miraculous phenomena, and that all beings, by pursuing their own true path, will become whomever they truly desire to be. The path of the Silver Elves is that of Love and Magic and they share the elven way with all sincerely interested individuals.

They are the authors of 25 books on elven magic and enchantment, including: The Book of Elven Runes: A Passage Into Faerie; The Magical Elven Love Letters, volume 1, 2, and 3; An Elfin Book of Spirits: Evoking the Beneficent Powers of Faerie; Caressed by an Elfin Breeze: The Poems of Zardoa Silverstar; Eldafaryn: True Tales of Magic from the Lives of the Silver Elves; Arvyndase (Silverspeech): A Short Course in the Magical Language of the Silver Elves; The Elven Book of Dreams: A Magical Oracle of Faerie; The Book of Elven Magick: The Philosophy and Enchantments of the Seelie Elves, Volume 1 & 2; What An Elf Would Do: A Magical Guide to the Manners and Etiquette of the Faerie Folk; The Elven Tree of Life Eternal: A Magical Quest for One’s True S’Elf; Magic Talks: On Being a Correspondence Between the Silver Elves and the Elf Queen’s Daughters; Sorcerers’ Dialogues: A Further Correspondence Between the Silver Elves and the Founders of the Elf Queen’s Daughters; Discourses on High Sorcery: More Correspondence Between the Silver Elves and the Founders of the Elf Queen’s Daughters; Ruminations on Necromancy: Continuing Correspondence Between the Silver Elves and the Founders of the Elf Queen’s Daughter; The Elven Way: The Magical Path of the Shining Ones; and The Book of Elf Names: 5,600 Elven Names to use for Magic, Game Playing, Inspiration, Naming One’s self and One’s Child, and as words in the Elven Language of the Silver Elves; Elven Silver: The Irreverent Faery Tales of Zardoa Silverstar; and An Elven Book of Ryhmes: Book Two of the Magical Poems of Zardoa Silverstar.

“The Voice of Faerie: Making Any Tarot Deck Into an Elven Oracle” is set to be released late August, 2013.

What inspires you to write?
We are inspired to write to assist the needs of others to understand the realms of magic and faery. We also have an inner drive to express our own experiences and reflect our personal quest to manifest faery/elven magic on the earth.

Tell us about your writing process.
We are a bit of both outliners and seat of our pants writers. We generally settle upon a loose outline and begin filling it in as we are inspired to do so. We also write whenever we have a general idea and often it fits somewhere in our works. We write approximately 5 hours every day.

What advice would you give other writers?
We would say to others writing to write first then critique later. Just keep writing and do not judge your writing until the time comes to truly edit your work. Also, stick to your passion and believe in your inspirations.

How did you decide how to publish your books?
We decided to publish through Createspace because we like the flexibility and freedom it gives the authors. And we support POD to save the trees!

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
We are sure that more and more people will publish through POD and Kindle versions as well. We personally like books we can hold and treasure on our bookshelves.

What do you use?
Co-writer

What genres do you write?
Non-Fiction: inspiration, Poetry, fiction: short stories fantasy

What formats are your books in?
