About Milda Harris:
Author Milda Harris is a Chicago girl who ran off to Hollywood to pursue a screenwriting dream! She has a dog named after a piece of candy (Licorice), was once hit by a tree (seriously), and wears hot pink sunglasses (why not?). Between working in production on television shows like Austin & Ally, Hannah Montana, and That’s So Raven and playing with her super cute baby twin girls, she writes books! Make sure to check out her young adult murder mystery, horror, paranormal romance, and chick lit novels as well as her new adult romantic comedy books.

Her young adult books include: Adventures in Funeral Crashing (#1), Adventures of a Graveyard Girl (#2), Adventures in Murder Chasing(#3), Adventures of a New Year’s Kiss (#3.5), The New Girl Who Found a Dead Body, Doppelganger (#1), Doppelganger 2: On the Run (#2), Connected (A Paranormal Romance), and more! Her new adult books include: Crashing Prom.

What inspires you to write?
I have always been a writer. Well, first I was a reader and then I wanted to learn to write. Around fourth grade I started writing stories and I haven’t stopped since. All sorts of things inspire me to write. I like interesting ideas like funeral crashing, doppelgangers, and crashing a prom. Things that are out of the ordinary like those are fun to write about.

Tell us about your writing process.
I am a pantser for the most part, but I’ve been trying to outline more because it really does help. The thing is that my outlines usually fall to the wayside because as I write the story and characters constantly change and become different from what I had outline. Something I thought was going to happen doesn’t as I write it just because it doesn’t feel right to the story anymore.

For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I think about my characters quite a bit – what they’d do, what they wouldn’t, what they like and don’t like. I definitely talk to the main characters in each book in my head all the time.

What advice would you give other writers?
Write! Write! Write! Yes, write even when you don’t feel like it.

How did you decide how to publish your books?
I decided to self-publish because I was tired of having my writing sitting in my computer with nobody to read it. I’d sent out a bunch of query letters with no positive response, so I decided to take my fate into my own hands. Why not? Carpe diem!

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
It’s changing. Self-published authors can do just as well as traditionally published authors. It’s a whole new world with ebooks.
