Lisa Fantino is an award-winning journalist and attorney. During 20+ years in NYC, she worked as a writer, reporter & anchor at WINS-AM, WCBS-AM & the NBC Radio Networks, as well as hosting her own celebrity chat show on Cablevision. She has interviewed everyone from Walter Cronkite & Yogi Berra to Robert Plant, Mick Jagger and several world leaders, along the way.
Lisa has a true wanderlust spirit and one read of “Amalfi Blue” and you’ll know why “fire and salsa” is the only way to describe this street-wise, sassy reporter with a Sicilian temperament. She has traveled the world for work & play but her soul is always happiest in Italy.
What inspires you to write?
Just getting up in the morning. I was writing stories from the minute I could dictate them to my Mom….so, my parents bought me a typewriter for my third Christmas. The rest as they say….is her-story!
Tell us about your writing process
I’ve tried outlining when I write fiction. It helps me visualize where the story is going and how the characters navigate through life to get there. With my first published book, “Amalfi Blue,” it started as having daily conversations with myself during a period of isolation in Italy.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Neither. I am them so I type as they would speak.
What advice would you give other writers?
WOrk hard and don’t expect to get rich. Write for the joy of writing.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I am a career journalist so this has been a lifetime goal.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think the more control any artist can have over their creation the better. Indy and self-publishing in the digital age gets us there.
What genres do you write?
What formats are your books in?
Both eBook and Print
