LeonLogothetis
About Leon Logothetis:
Leon Logothetis is a global adventurer, motivational speaker & philanthropist. It wasn’t always that way. He used to be a broker in the city of London where he felt uninspired and chronically depressed. He gave it all up for a life on the road. This radical life change was inspired by the inspirational movie The Motorcycle Diaries.
The days of living and working behind his ‘slab of wood’ (or desk to the layman) are well and truly over. His new passion: Finding ways for your inner rebel (that voice that tells you, you are worth so much more than you think) to come out and play.
The inner rebel tells you that your life is yours.  And anything you dream of is possible. Anything. And that the fuel for all this delicious potential is simple: Kindness and harnessing the power of human connection. And. Doing it all with a smile on your face and a spring in your step!
Leon has visited more than 90 countries and traveled to every continent. He is the host of the TV series Amazing Adventures Of A Nobody, which is broadcast across the world by National Geographic International and, over the course of three seasons, sees Leon cross America, the United Kingdom and Europe on just 5 dollars, 5 pounds, and 5 euros a day, respectively.
He recently returned from filming his new TV show The Kind Way Around, in which he circumnavigated the globe on his vintage yellow motorbike Kindness One, giving life changing gifts along the way to unsuspecting good Samaritans. All of this whilst relying on the kindness of strangers.
Leon is no stranger to adventure. He teamed up with First Book® & drove a car from London to Mongolia raising money to buy 10,000 books for underprivileged children in America. He also drove a vintage London taxi across America, giving free cab rides to the needy and working with Classwish to bring hope back to the schools of America.
Leon has documented his travels for numerous media outlets including Good Morning America, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Outside, Good, Psychology Today, and The New York Times.
His books, Amazing Adventures of a Nobody and The Kindness Diaries are in stores now. His new book Live, Love, Explore: Discover the Way of the Traveler a Roadmap to the Life You Were Meant to Live, published by Readers Digest, is available December 2016.

What inspires you to write?
Growing up my life was plotted out for me. I was to do well in school, go to university, get a job in finance, and spend the next fifty years of my life sitting behind a slab of wood, watching the rain-slicked streets of London from thirty floors above. For a long time, I followed that script, until one day, I finally realized I was living someone else’s life—a good one—but not one of my own choosing. I watched a film that would change my life forever: The Motorcycle Diaries. In the film, Che Guevara was doing what I had always longed to do, travel the world and connect with others. I left the theater and never looked back. I knew I had to share these experiences with others and writing was a way for me to do that. It’s a way for me to reconnect with my experiences as well as pass any wisdom I have learned onto the reader.

Tell us about your writing process.
I tend to seclude myself when I write, I have an overall idea of what I want to get across and slowly figure out how to connect the pieces together. A lot of my writing comes from my experiences so I keep a journal and notes that I can come back to when I’m ready to start my book.

What advice would you give other writers?
Never, ever, ever give-up. No matter how difficult things get you’re not alone, but if you give up it’s over, literally. So many times in my life I second-guessed myself but I never gave up writing. You have to take that first step even if that means just getting up in the morning and writing one page a day. This simple act can get your mind working and eventually one a day turns to five, then ten and so on.

How did you decide how to publish your books?
I decided to go the traditional publishing route because of the reach I was hoping my message to achieve. I started with a smaller publisher for my first book Amazing Adventures of a Nobody called Betty Young Books. They did a fantastic job with that book and I wouldn’t have done it any other way. For my second book I was lucky enough to get Reader’s Digest as my publisher. Their handwork helped my book The Kindness Diaries become a bestseller.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Digital publishing is the future but hard copies still have a place in publishing (and my heart!). I have seen the benefits of releasing a shorter digital book (The Mojo Diaries), doing this allows authors to constantly have something to keep their readers engaged to their writing while their next long format book is released.
