I am a newer author to the scene but I published 3 books in my first year (2013) already and am on track to put out 3 more before the end of June this year. I am always inspired by the world around me and find truly relaxing and tranquil peace when I write. I write to help bring a voice to those that don’t have their own and find it rewarding when I get tweets or run into people on the streets that stop me and tell me how much one of my novels had helped them.
What inspires you to write?
I am often saddened by many of the tragedies around me, I sometimes write with the hope that one of my novels might bring strength to someone that might need it, whether it be someone fighting the rigors of chemo like my mother or a young girl being bullied that needs to realize she isn’t alone
Tell us about your writing process.
I am fairly scattered and insanely busy on my average week that I usually am trying to duck away to put a few thousand words on paper before having to finish making dinner or building a catapault with my son.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I have been accused of having multiple bipolar personalities in my head, I often have to hold full conversations with many imaginated characters at once, sometimes out loud so you can keep the voices straight.
What advice would you give other writers?
Edit, I have issues with typing much faster than my fingers can keep up and spell check doesn’t catch everything.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I didn’t want to sit around a deal with being rejected by some publishers, I went the pirate route and said to heck with them all and just charged the gate and did it on my own, it’s a bit more of a struggle trying to get to where I want to be but I am still finding it very rewrading that I am in control of all of the steps and processes.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I am hoping to gain some more attention.
