About Johnny Bowl:
I am Johnny Bowl. I come from the year 2056. Due to the apocalyptic circumstances of that time, I have time traveled to this decade where I can live in peace. However, assassin robots are frequently sent after me to eliminate me once and for all so that I can not warn the people of this time about the invasion.
When I am not evading robot predators, I spend my time reading, writing, and drawing. I am currently working on several novels, some of which are being previewed on my website.
What inspires you to write?
What inspires me is the stories that I love. I am a fan of all forms of media, and I have been inspired ever since I was a child to create stories like the ones that inspire me so much. I believe I always have something original to say through my writing, so it always makes it worth it. I hope that I can inspire others in the same way that I was.
Tell us about your writing process.
I have two ways of making stories. One is to simply begin writing, then think about the rest of the story in my head during breaks. At about one third of the completion of the story, I know the entire plot in somewhat intricate detail.
The other method I use is to simply write an outline including everything that may possibly go into the story. This includes character names, descriptions, dialogue, scenes, and any other information. When this outline has covered every corner of the story, then the actual writing takes care of itself!
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I am someone who always listens to my characters. I am like a ghost who is floating around and observing the world of the living. However, I also feel a bit like a deity, because whatever I say goes! It is a very empowering feeling and one that go to your head if you are not careful.
What advice would you give other writers?
The most important thing is that you are writing absolutely every single day. From there, work on increasing the number of words you write each day. Producing work is the number one most important thing. From there, study the structure of plots you enjoy and try to capture the same magic that captured you.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I decided to publish my books because it is my goal to make a living as a writer. In the year 2056, this was impossible. However, this era is still relatively peaceful in comparison, and therefore it is possible to make a living through writing.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I believe paper books will always be a part of the market. However, self publishing is an amazing thing because it allows voices which would otherwise remain unheard to make their mark. The future of book publishing must be in always in a direction that supports this venue of expression through self publishing and ebooks.
