About James Erith:
James Erith was born in Suffolk in the UK in 1970.

He worked briefly as a journalist in the 1990’s and then turned to his passion for the great outdoors designing and building gardens for several years in the Capital.

With his family, James moved to North Yorkshire where he lived between the Yorkshire Dales and the Yorkshire Moors. It inspired him to use these beautiful areas as the location for the EDEN CHRONICLES series.

The EDEN CHRONICLES of which THE POWER AND THE FURY is the first instalment of five and is James’ debut. The next instalment, SPIDER WEB POWDER is around the corner.

James captained the Eton College cricket team at Lords and is easily distracted by the sound of leather on willow. He would have loved to have played for England.

In 2013 James rowed the English Channel and the 21 tidal miles of the Thames for MND and Breakthrough Breast cancer .

What inspires you to write?
The excitement of unleashing the imagination within.

Tell us about your writing process.
The whole story was worked out to about episode five. I fill in the middles, finding new things every day.

For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
We chat. They direct me considerably..

What advice would you give other writers?
Read your work out loud.
Get someone to honestly shred your work. It’s horrid, but it’s invaluable.

How did you decide how to publish your books?
The inner core of traditional publishing contains high, oft impenetrable walls. For a couple of years I scaled most of the way up but not quite into the fortress. Maybe this will happen.
But I wanted to see if there was an audience so I set up my own publishing team, with cover designers etc and launched myself into this complex and strange world.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Writers will increasingly have to become independent publishers to get noticed by the traditional houses.
In doing so they are so much further ahead in terms of understanding the market – especially digitally – and in doing so proving they have the metal and grit to keep at it.

What do you use?: Professional Editor, Professional Cover Designer, Beta Readers

What genres do you write?: Middle grade, adventure, fantasy, childrens, dystopian

What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
