About Grace Risata:
Grace Risata is a new edition to the literary world. Grace is very excited to share her first novel, My Dirty Detour, and she hopes you enjoyed reading it as much as she enjoyed writing it. Grace would like to thank everyone for giving her book a chance and she welcomes all feedback. Grace is happiest when reading, eating Portillos hot dogs, and patiently waiting for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
What inspires you to write?
I’ve loved to read all my life and I finally thought “Hey, I’m going to give this a try.” I had an idea and started putting in on paper. The ideas just kept coming and before I knew it, I had a book.
Tell us about your writing process.
I wrote down an outline of what I wanted in the book. I arranged the contents in a logical order and put it all together. I found that as I started writing, more ideas would come and the book just took off from there.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I try to picture them talking and I use the words that come into my head. I don’t think for them with my voice, because they each have their own personality/voice.
What advice would you give other writers?
You just have to set aside some time and get started. The ideas are the easy part. Grammar and punctuation are the hardest part.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I self published my book on Amazon because I wanted to have full control over it.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think the future of book publishing is going in the right (write!) direction. If authors can self-publish their own work, then it will be easier to bring new voices to the marketplace.
