Welcome! I am glad you stopped by I hope you enjoy your visit. I love writing Chick Lit/ Romance. I recently re-edited and reapplied the lipstick of my Chic Lit Serial,Deja Vu of Love. The series starts off with Deja Vu of Love The Beginning which of course is the first book of the story in the Deja Vu Series. This time I remembered to blot, and blend all three parts of the book. As a writer I am partial to using a third person multiple POV style of writing. Although not well known it is frequently used in Romance and other genre’s where multiple point of views add to the depth and value of the story line, and character interactions.
I also prefer moving the story along through the use of dialogue versus narrative. I think it’s because I enjoy giving a distinct voice to all my characters. As a writer I believe that dialogue helps define the characters as people. I write about real women with flaws who are strong and confident and ready to live life. I really enjoy watching my characters grow and change as the story of their lives unfolds. I try not to be to much of a control freak and let the characters write the story, after all it is there life.
So if you are a reader who likes to hear the voice of your characters and share their POV I am your next favorite writer LOL Just a little something about me I am a retired Actress, Director,Choreographer, who discovered her real passion in life, was writing.
I have two sons Zachary and Garette my oldest son Zach just made a gift of a daughter of love Keri and her beloved girl Starla into my life. I also have two doggie kids Hazel and Harry. My free time is spent in the garden enjoying nature, decorating, and writing. I would love to have feedback from readers I think we are always curious about what people think of our work.
So my suggestion is you go get a great glass of red wine, start the bubble bath grab a couple of chocolate covered caramels with sea salt. Then enjoy a little you time with a good book. I hope you love and enjoy reading the characters with minimally twice the enjoyment I had writing them to life..
Please pass the link to my book page to your address and Facebook people;if you believe I am worthy of a personal recommendation.
May you enjoy all the bad boys of romance with none of the pain.
What inspires you to write?
Everything and nothing it is just there sort of like oxygen, I am inspired by the sisterhood of women I love our gender and think we are strong, funny, beautiful and flawed. So I like to find the flaw and grow it. I am not sure if that makes sense but it is sort of like having a best friend who won’t listen and then she does and goes oh yeah I get it he’s not good for me and that’s why I like him so much. LOL I write about that chick and her friends.
Tell us about your writing process.
Well I don’t know that I have a process I am not a real artsy kind of writer I percolate a story in my head and then at some point one of the characters voted by the other characters to be the mouth piece goes okay Carol we are ready to tell you the story, that’s when I get some Col Sanders Chicken, with pepsi and lock myself up in my very cool room/writing desk and open the french doors and start typing. It fills sort of like channeling, funny thing is most times I have to reread what I wrote as I can’t remember. Use to freak me out now I just know it’s how they come into the world not unlike childbirth but, only a little more painful LOL.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I listen sometimes I try and argue with them but you know finally I came to the point where I just go whatever it’s your story. I have to let them tell it or I miss to much of what could be. When I was a young writer I would really struggle with the characters when they wanted to go somewhere I “knew” wouldn’t work. Finally I have gotten to the point where I trust my characters and their instincts about when and where they want to reveal within the story. I have a friend in the real world who taught me an expression I think about when I want to reveal and the character isn’t ready “it’s not my secret to share” that’s how I think about characters they will share when they are ready not my place to do it. What I also found out is that generally they are right LOL so now I just shut up and type.
What advice would you give other writers?
To be frank I don’t think I would presume they wanted my advice but if they did I would say have fun and keep writing the worst day of your writing career will be followed by the best. You have to be a little crazy to do this too. Otherwise the voices will drive you mad LOL. PS Never give up and don’t believe anybody who tells you that you are not a writer.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Luck and a lot of research and a lot of hard work and you better believe that one, you give up a lot to do this but if you believe in your voice as a writer then you must tell the story, it is not a matter of people reading a writer needs to tell the story. If people buy the story even better but the important part of writing is telling the story and being true to your characters. I think it is important that you give a voice to characters, I like that people can hear my characters talk, or so they tell me.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think it is all about reading accessories there are only so many trees so …gonna happen get on board with the reading device.
