About Breanna Atkinson:
Breanna started publishing on Amazon with her first poetry book. Branching away from poetry she began writing novels. Her writing is a self proclaimed attestant to her growth as an author. With over one hundred copies distributed from her initial jump into publishing in January of this year her biggest goal is to end the year as a best seller.
A nature lover, during the summer you will find her at the beach reading while watching over her children.
Her biggest inspirations are her husband, friends, and family. She enjoys writing and making connections through doing so and is always encouraging her readers to reach out to her and leave her reviews.
What inspires you to write?
What inspires me to write would be my friends and family. Between the inspiration they provide for me and the support they shower me in I find myself pouring little bits of them into my characters. My most recent book was actually written as a gift to my husband.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
H.D. Carlton, T L Swan, Julia Quinn, Penelope Douglas and recently I added another favourite V.T. Do.
Tell us about your writing process.
I usually begin with an idea in my head of a character then let my brain run with it. I'll give myself cliff note style outlines to keep myself on track for each chapter but I will also go back and completely change things from the original plan. I use a simple journal and pen for my cliff notes but use apple pages to actually write my documents. I am very much a visual person so I stray away from mock-ups when creating my characters because if they're not quite right it will grate on my mind; however oddly enough I will sketch out buildings to ensure I have them structurally sound. My writing process is very much a mix and match for what works best for me that day.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I interact with my characters in a slightly odd way meaning that I generally pretend that they're real people that I've been given a background file on that includes their core values and backstories. Sometimes I find them going rogue so to speak because the path "they choose" is so much more "them" than what I had originally planned to write.
What advice would you give other writers?
You need to have full confidence in your book, if you're iffy about it as the books star representative then your readers/retailers/promoters will follow suit in your uncertainty.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I chose self-publishing because I am a control freak but also because I am a learn while doing type of person. My first publication is no where near as good as my up-coming book because I am learning new things with each book I publish and only getting better each time.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think the future is self publishing, traditional publishers can't talent scout everyone but when a book is good it speaks for itself and draws people in. I truly believe we will find that most top selling authors in the future will have started as self-pub authors that got discovered by the big guys due to their undeniably good book and already established fan basis.
What genres do you write?: Romatasy, Fantasy, Dark Romance
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
