About Aurora Springer:
After a successful career in science, I have achieved a life-long ambition to publish novels. My works include science fiction and fantasy with romance and a sprinkle of humor. I was born in the UK and live in Atlanta with my husband, a dog and two cats to sit on my laptop. My hobbies, besides reading and writing, include outdoor activities like watching wildlife, hiking and canoeing.
What inspires you to write?
I enjoy imagining new worlds, aliens, and a variety of characters. The external world coupled with a fertile imaginations inspires my stories.
Tell us about your writing process.
How I write is an interesting question! As a scientist, I am trained to plan logically, but the other side of my brain emerges when I compose fiction. Often I have an idea with the start and end of the story. Once I have an idea or character(s), the scenes sometimes pop into my head, or evolve from putting the characters and concepts together. The editing phase is where I make sure the scenes connect in a coherent manner without inconsistencies.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
My characters interact with each other, not with me.
What advice would you give other writers?
Write what you love, finish the story, and publish.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I enjoy the freedom of self-publishing, where I am in control of the whole process. Of course, it is hard work.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think people will be reading stories or books in one form or another for the foreseeable future.
