What inspires you to write?
Everything, I hear a phrase or a word. Someone mentions an event. I listen to a conversation and in my head a dialogue or scene ensues. I can’t help it. My brain just runs on.
Tell us about your writing process.
I sit in front of my computer and write. If I get stuck, I go for a walk. I rarely get stuck but I do walk a lot.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
My characters talk to me. They are very much their own people. I find it hard to mould them as they exist already
What advice would you give other writers?
Write, write, write until you can write no more.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I have an agent for my non fiction but for my fiction trilogy, The Cougar Diaries, I decided to self publish. Since these books have an erotic element, it was easier. Irish ;Publishing houses are notoriously timid about publishing raunchy books.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
It is alive and well and kicking. Television did not kill film, it brought it to the next level. I do think that delivery will be increasingly via electronic media but there will always be the place for an old fashioned book. Also, books are made from a replenish able source so enjoying them can still be a pleasure
