Author Bio:
Allan J. Ashinoff, born in NY and currently residing in Arizona, is the newsletter editor for the Arizona Authors Association. Once a freelance conservative commentary writer, a small business owner, an on-line radio talk show host, and a veteran of the United States Navy; He decided, after the 2008 election, to combine his love of science fiction, history and philosophy with his skill for writing, to craft his first novel – Shadows Live Under Seashells. In 2013, he completed his second novel Fallacies of Vision a collection of short stories that act as a prequel to Shadows Live Under Seashells.

What inspires you to write?
I’m inspired by the world around me, how it is changing, and how my children will scarcely enjoy the freedoms I knew as a child growing up on Long Island NY.

Tell us about your writing process.
I’m an off-the-cuff writer. I start with between 5-10 compelling ideas, workout a way to use the majority of those ideas in a story, and them spend countless hours drinking coffee and pecking away at my trusty laptop.

For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I do not listen or talk to my characters. I create characters and give them each a voice based on some person or personality trait of someone I once knew.

What advice would you give other writers?
Be stubbornly persistent. Your work is done when you, and no one but you, know it convey’s your ideas exactly as you want it to. Do not be afraid to rewrite countless times. Always save your revisions (you never know if what you wrote earlier will be better than the latest revision).

How did you decide how to publish your books?
I published via Amazon. I wanted to have Shadows Live Under Seashells available for sale leading up to the 2008 election.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I will always own and cherish physical books (I have a wall full) but the future will see the increasing use of electronic media.

What genres do you write?
Science Fiction, Speculative Fiction

What formats are your books in?
Both eBook and Print
