What inspired you to write your book?
I am a longtime quilter and also write about quilting for a major publisher of quilting and crafts books. I have started designing my own quilts and wanted to share my knowledge and ideas on quilting with other people. I have a gift for making things clear, and I hope I can help introduce other people to the joy of quilting.

Nothing says “comfort” quite like snuggling up in a soft, warm, homemade quilt. This book is for anyone who would like to learn more about quilting and how to make that first quilt.
If you have ever stared with longing at the fabric aisle of your local crafts store and wished you knew how to make something with all those glorious colors and prints… If you have ever thought a quilt would be the perfect gift to make for someone you care about… If quilting seems like it might be fun, but you didn’t know where to start… this book is for you.
Making a beautiful quilt—a quilt you can be proud of—is a lot easier than you think it is. Once you see how easy it is to make a quilt, and how much everyone loves to snuggle up in your first quilt, you’ll want to make another one, and then probably a few more!

How do you see writing a a craft book or tutorial as different from writing other genres of books?
It’s factual, based on how you actually need to do the craft in question, and it’s also aimed at inspiring someone to get in there and try the craft for herself. It’s very important to break down an activity into all its steps and make each step easy to understand and copy from your instructions.
Advice to someone that is thinking about or currently working on a craft book or tutorial
Learn your craft before you write about it. Make each project before you try to describe it.
How did you decide how to publish your book and where is it published through:
I published through Amazon Kindle because I could control the entire project and cut down on the time it takes to publish by doing it all myself. This is my first book and akes it a fascinating experiment for me.
Felicity Walker Bio:
Felicity Walker has been quilting for nearly 20 years, but she still thinks of herself as a beginning quilter. She is probably not ever going to enter a quilt in a national show or win prizes for her fancy stitchery, but she loves fabric and enjoys making easy quilts for her friends and family. She is always looking for simpler and faster ways to quilt.
Felicity writes for a leading publisher of quilting and craft books, and contributes to the quilting blog Quilter’s Diary.
